The South London Area Gay Bridge Group was founded in August 1985 to provide a venue for gay people to meet on a regular basis to play Rubber Bridge and generally to meet new gay friends and socialise. 

The Group holds regular meetings at venues all over the South London area, from Twickenham and Putney in the West to Surrey Quays and Bromley in the East, our venues being our members' residences.

Members are of varying Bridge standards from beginners upwards, and new players are always welcome. 

The format of our Bridge events is as follows: 

Every Wednesday evening, cut-in Rubber Bridge, from about 7.00 p.m. until late, hosted by one of our members.  A regular list of venues is published and circulated to members in advance.  No table money is required.  We only ask that you please bring an appropriate quantity of your preferred beverage!  A game is guaranteed, as we play Chicago-style Rubber Bridge, where tables will play four hands then cut-in anyone waiting.  The host will prepare some simple food & refreshments during the evening.

On the first Sunday afternoon of each month, a Duplicate or Teams Competition (depending on numbers), from about 2pm until early evening.  Also held at different member's houses.  Table money £1 towards catering.

Attendance on Wednesdays is always at your discretion, and no prior notice to the host that week is necessary.  On Sundays, we do ask that you let us know if you will be attending, then request that you arrive promptly for the start of the Competition.

 We also organise other events on an occasional basis, such as Charity Bridge competitions, musical evenings, games evenings, and other social outings.

 Membership of the Group is free.  We only ask that you give us your contact details, so we can get in touch with you should a last minute change of venue be necessary.

 Our aim is to cater not only for those gay people who want to play a "semi-serious" game of Bridge, but also for those for whom Bridge is a social adventure.
